NatCon24 Recap

April 25, 2024 | Conferences

It’s hard to imagine packing a year’s worth of learning and networking into a three-day span, but NatCon — a conference that has become the premiere gathering for mental and behavioral health professionals — has done it again.

This year’s conference, held in St. Louis, Missouri from April 15-17, was nothing short of incredible. Hosted by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, it featured more than 500 speakers, including former First Lady Michelle Obama, and solutions-focused presentations that illustrated how to move the industry forward.

For our part, between innovaTel Telepsychiatry and Quartet Health, we were able to send a number of our team members to the conference, to both attend and present. Here are a few highlights from NatCon24.

Presenting To Colleagues

Anay Patel (Quartet Health), Juliana Harper (Easterseals MORC)and Julia Isaacs (BCBSM) presenting at NatCon24.

Quartet Health President and COO, Anay Patel, hosted a moderated panel in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan and Easterseals. The panel, entitled “Innovation Through Alternative Payment Models: Working With Commercial Payers to Support Individuals With Serious Mental Illness,” focused on an innovative care delivery and payer model designed to support patients living with serious mental illness.

Over the course of the one-hour presentation, we were able to illustrate how partnering with organizations like Quartet and innovaTel can support the delivery of high-quality, incentive-aligned care at scale. We were honored to showcase this emerging pay-for-performance model implemented by commercial payers that opens a pathway to innovative approaches to serving individuals with acute conditions.

We Celebrated Our 10-Year Anniversary

As any 10-year-old should, we threw a birthday party at NatCon24 to celebrate innovaTel reaching our decade milestone. We were excited to celebrate this anniversary among colleagues and friends — and with balloons!

Over the past 10 years, we’ve had the honor of working with valued partners to improve access to high-quality psychiatric care. Our team of remote providers has allowed care-delivery organizations to increase patient capacity, reduce wait times and expand clinical teams with specialty providers who might not otherwise be available in their area.

It was fun to celebrate this achievement at NatCon24, including our sponsored social hour at The Magnolia St. Louis Hotel, complete with photo booth, raffle and tasty treats!

The extra time to enjoy cocktails and connections with colleagues was definitely a high point.

All The Puppy Park PAW-sibilities

We couldn’t resist. We sponsored NatCon’s Puppy Park for the second year in a row! And it was worth it.

As mental and behavioral health professionals, we work hard to provide quality care to those in need every day. And puppies are a snuggly reward for that hard work — which is actually scientifically true! A study found that just 5 to 20 minutes of interaction with a dog reduces stress and releases oxytocin — in both the human and the pup! The Puppy Park proved to be a relaxing pit stop throughout the conference and we were so happy to see so many people stop by for a break.

Raffle Winners!

For those at the event, we had a special raffle for attendees to enter to win a lunch for their team, on us! We’re so grateful for all those who entered, and are excited to announce not one, but two winners for our “lunch on us” raffle this year!

Noelle Espineli, Director of Integrated Behavioral Health Services at Valle del Sol in Arizona, and Ariel Joseph, Director of Operations at Red Rock in Oklahoma, congratulations! Our team will be reaching out to coordinate your lunch on us.

If you weren’t able to attend NatCon24, be sure to tap into the great resources we shared at the event.

We hope to see you next year!
